Novelis pins future on Fusion; looks to cut costs, debt

Novelis Inc., Atlanta, will look to expand the universe of aluminum applications with its Fusion technology as the company also continues to deal with contractual and debt legacies left from its spin-off from Alcan Inc. two years ago.
"Our job is to open up new applications," Martha Brooks, Novelis' chief operating officer, said Monday at the Desjardins Securities Materials Conference in Montreal. "Novelis Fusion technology will allow us to broaden our product mix and grow the market for flat-rolled products. Fusion will enable the creation of the next generation of sheet products."....
