Codelco plans $530-million expansion for Andina plant

Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile's Andina division is expected to produce 30,000 to 40,000 tonnes more copper in 2009 following the completion of the first stage of an expansion plan, before falling back to about 250,000 tonnes per year as grades decline, according to Daniel Trivelli, the division's general manager.
Codelco's directorate will take a decision on whether to proceed with the project in mid-December, Codelco's executive president, Jose Pablo Arellano, said earlier, with work scheduled to start in January.....
