Italy’s Arvedi looks outside Europe to license endless strip technology

Italian steelmaker Acciaieria Arvedi SpA has talked with steelmakers outside Europe about licensing technology that would enable them to produce strip from liquid steel in an unbroken process.

The so-called endless strip production will yield savings for converting liquid steel into finished strip of about 20 euros ($27) a tonne compared with regular integrated steel mills, Maurizio Calcinoni, vice president of Finarvedi....
