Zinc scrap exports lose ground in September

Shipments of zinc scrap and skimmings to foreign buyers fell in September from the 15-year-high achieved in August.
U.S. exports slid 6.6 percent to 10,834 short tons from the record 11,605 tons sent abroad in August, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department.
China has led demand for much of the past three years, but the intake by Asian importers has soared since midyear. As a consequence, exports through the first nine months of this year climbed to 60,371 tons, up 63.5 percent from 36,934 tons shipped overseas in the comparable period last year and almost double the 31,613 tons exported in the first....
