Brass ammo value slides in military scrap auction

Brass ammunition scrap showed an average value of $2.20 a pound in a U.S. Defense Department auction that closed Wednesday, down 6 percent from $2.34 in a similar sale in early November.
The two lots of fired brass ammunition went for $2.53 a pound in Ohio and $2.07 a pound in Georgia.
The largest winning bid last week was $32,000 (plus a 10-percent premium) for insulated copper wire mixed with optical cable in Florida, or $1.47 a pound including the premium. Based on identification numbers, the same bidder also spent $20,500, or 57 cents a pound, for motors, wire and radiators in Oklahoma.....
