Having outgrown Chicago digs, Finkl sizing up new plant sites

A. Finkl & Sons Co., Chicago, is seeking a partner for a new plant that will double its manufacturing capacity.
Finkl, a specialty steel forging company with a Chicago presence for 100 years, is mulling various options, including relocating to Chicago's South Side at the site of the former Verson Steel plant, which has 500,000 square feet of vacant manufacturing space. Finkl acquired that 44-acre site in June.
Another option is to move to a 46-acre site in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, adjacent to its Sorel Forge plant, which it purchased in 2004. The Canadian site, which Finkl has under contract, formerly housed a Slater Steel plant.....
