Zinifex, Umicore to merge smelting, alloying assets

Zinifex Ltd. and NV Umicore SA have agreed to spin off their smelting and alloying businesses into a new company that will become the world's largest producer of zinc metal.
An initial public offering of the jointly owned company will be launched "at an appropriate time" after approval is received from the boards of both companies and regulators, the two companies said Tuesday.....
