Alco-Scholz eyeing EU clearance of Uniscrap purchase in early ’07

German-Danish venture Alco-Scholz hopes to get clearance from European Union competition authorities early next year to buy Danish scrap company Uniscrap AS, a source close to the process said.

Uniscrap is owned by private equity company Invest Miljø AS, Hellerup, Denmark.

Alco-Scholz was formed by Alco-Metal Holding AS, a Soborg, Denmark,-based nonferrous and stainless scrap processor that holds 25 percent of the company, and scrap giant Scholz AG, Essingen, Germany, which owns 75 percent. It was formed for the purpose of acquiring Uniscrap, a major scrap metals recycler in Denmark with 20 sites throughout the country. It also recycles electronic scrap and paper.....
