Asarco union draws up contract wish list

Union leaders representing workers at Asarco LLC are preparing to submit wage and benefit demands to the U.S. copper producer just weeks before the current labor contract expires.
Talks between the United Steelworkers union and the Tucson, Ariz.,-based company broke off last week and the union is now drawing up its package of proposals, according to Terry Bonds, USW District 12 director.
"It's getting close but we'll hopefully get something done before the expiration date," Bonds said. The current contract is due to expire Dec. 31.....
