Spot indium prices flat; export taxes loom

Spot indium prices remain stalled at between $720 and $760 per kilogram as business continues to slow approaching the year's end, but talk of a Jan. 1 increase in Chinese export taxes on minor metals could drive prices up early next year.

Spot activity has been thin as consumers look to close their books for 2006. "Everyone is winding down the year," one trader said. "Nothing will happen for the rest of the year, but things should heat up in the new year," he said.....
