Timken mulls expansion to serve transplant automakers [UPDATE]

Timken Co., Canton, Ohio, is considering expanding its offerings to better serve the transplant automaker market.
Salvatore J. Miraglia Jr., Timken's Steel Group president, told AMM that the firm has begun an internal investigation into whether it should enlarge its Harrison plant in Canton to begin making smaller-diameter bar than is now produced by the steelmaker.
The bar, down to 1-inch diameter, would be used in the automaking processes of the new domestics, some of which Timken already serves with larger-size bar.....
