Talks continue as strike cuts Altonorte production in half

Production at Xstrata Plc's Altonorte copper smelter in Chile has been cut by 50 percent after workers went on strike to protest the company's latest pay offer.

Talks between the two sides are continuing and an Xstrata spokesman said the company remains confident that a new deal could be reached. "We're safely running the smelter at about half capacity," he said. "The discussions are continuing and we're pretty positive we can find a resolution."....
