Alcoa, Kobe to dissolve auto sheet ventures

Kobe Steel Ltd. and Alcoa Inc. plan to dissolve two aluminum auto sheet joint ventures, citing disappointing demand.
The two companies set up the 50-50 joint ventures, one in the United States and one in Japan, in 1992, and expanded them in 2003.
Kobe Alcoa Transportation Products Inc., Pittsburgh, is focused primarily on research and development, while Kobe Alcoa Transportation Products Ltd., Tokyo, manufactures and markets aluminum sheet to Japanese automakers as well as undertaking some research.....
