Antimony market flat on lack of spot business

A dearth of buying has kept U.S. antimony prices flat as the market winds down for the end of the year.

Spot prices remain in a range of $5,550 to $5,600 per tonne in warehouse, sources said. One U.S. trader said prices are averaging $5,576 per tonne but some individual deals were still being done at about the $5,600 level.

Market participants are keeping an eye on China as they await further information on any new export tax for antimony. The Chinese are not driving to place any material, the trader said, and customers are accepting regular consignments without looking for additional supply, which translates to nearly no spot activity.
