Asia drives world stainless production higher

World crude stainless steel production totaled nearly 20.9 million tonnes in the first nine months of this year, up 13 percent from about 18.5 million tonnes in the same period last year due largely to a rise in Asian output, the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) said.
More stainless steel was produced in Asia than any other region, with mills there churning out nearly 10.9 million tonnes, a 12.8-percent increase from 9.5 million tonnes a year earlier.....
