Alma workers to vote on proposed contract

Unionized workers at Alcan Inc.'s Alma smelter in Quebec are scheduled to vote Friday on whether to accept the company's latest contract offer.
The union's bargaining committee will recommend to the membership that they accept the offer. "I think we have finally tackled a deal," Michel Arsenault, director of District 5 of the United Steelworkers union, said. "Normally, when the bargaining committee recommends an offer the membership follows that recommendation, but we'll see. I think the chances are good."....
