Sparse spot sales of silicon expected in ’07

With most silicon consumers locking up purchases for next year via annual contract, the virtual standstill in spot market sales of silicon metal is expected to continue well into 2007, traders said.
Spot prices for silicon metal are still in a range of 90 to 94 cents per pound, traders said.
"Everyone is finished, they bought what they had to buy, so prices are staying in that range," a trader said.....
