Japanese smelter settles annual TC/RC with BHP

Japanese smelter Pan Pacific Copper Co. (PPC) has settled its annual copper treatment and refining charge (TC/RC) contract with BHP Billiton at $60 per tonne/6 cents per pound with no price participation, according to trade sources.

If confirmed, the settlement is likely to act as a benchmark for other Japanese smelters, traders said.

PPC reportedly negotiated improved side deals, including an extension to payment terms. The contract is also believed to include a higher refining charge for the gold content of the material.....
