Steel prices in China rise slightly amid rail transportation squeeze

China's domestic steel prices rose slightly last week as a transportation squeeze continued to prevent domestic rail shipments from reaching their destinations.
Rail lines are operating at full capacity in some areas, where seasonal transportation of thermal coal takes priority over other materials, preventing mills in northern China from delivering steel to buyers elsewhere in China. Supply tightness is more pronounced in southern and eastern China as fewer big mills are based in those regions, market participants said.....
