Votorantim seeking to import 4,000T of nickel concentrate

Brazilian electrolytic and matte nickel producer Votorantim Metais is seeking to import 4,000 tonnes of sulfide nickel concentrate to feed its Fortaleza de Minas nickel matte plant.

"This would allow us to work at the 10,000-tonne full capacity at Fortaleza de Minas," company superintendent João Bosco said. Ore could possibly be sourced from Canada, Australia or Africa.

Votorantim purchased the Fortaleza de Minas plant from Rio Tinto Brasil about three years ago, when officially it had only two years' reserves of sulfide ore left at its Serra de Fortaleza nickel mine.....
