CMC sees major opportunities in ‘micro mill’

Commercial Metals Co. (CMC) executives are looking to generate new business and supply some of its fabrication operations from a new mill the company is planning to open a little more than two years from now.
Last week, the Irving, Texas,-based company said it was planning to build a "micro mill" in Arizona. The $130-million project, which is to go online in early 2009, will be dedicated to producing reinforcing bar and is intended to supply the greater Phoenix area.....
