Housing slump to drag on economy NAM

The U.S. economy, hammered by a slumping housing sector, will continue decelerating toward a "soft landing" in 2007, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) said Tuesday in its 2007 Economic Outlook.

"Residential housing continues to be a drag on the economy, though outside of this sector the economy has shown solid growth," David Huether, chief economist for the Washington-based trade group, said.....
