Air quality near PD site gets passing grade

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has redesignated the Miami, Ariz., area, home to a large Phelps Dodge Corp. mining and smelting operation, as attaining the federal standard for sulfur-dioxide emissions.

The agency has also approved the state's plan to maintain healthy air quality levels in the area for 10 years.....
