Refco emerges from bankruptcy protection

New York-based commodities brokerage Refco Inc. has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is expected to start paying creditors by the end of the year.

Refco filed for bankruptcy protection in October last year after disclosing that its former chief executive officer, Phillip R. Bennett, had hidden an estimated $430 million worth of debt.....
