Chaparral to aim expansion plans at enhancing existing operations

Chaparral Steel Co., Midlothian, Texas, is considering expanding operations through several capital projects, executives said during a recent earnings conference call.

Tommy A. Valenta, Chaparral's president and chief executive officer, said the company does not have any concrete plans yet but that executives are exploring projects that would improve current operations.

"In optimizing our assets, we would be looking primarily at our operations in Virginia. We are currently exploring the possibility of adding additional Z-piling capacity and expanding our wide-flange beam range at this facility," he said.....
