Two men eyed in alloy snatch from AK plant

Two workers employed by an AK Steel Corp. contractor are suspected of stealing 1,000 pounds of cobalt-nickel alloy ingots valued at about $5,000 from the steelmaker's Middletown, Ohio, plant.
The two unnamed thieves apparently attempted to sell about 400 pounds of the stolen material to a scrap recycler in Dayton, Ohio, according to a report in the Middletown Journal. Investigations are under way by the company and police departments in both Middletown and Dayton.
Such thefts are becoming more prevalent at metals producers and manufacturers because of the high prices these alloys command.....
