Alcoa’s Cleveland workers OK pact, end strike

Unionized workers at Alcoa Inc.'s Cleveland Works narrowly approved a new four-year labor agreement Wednesday and will return to work Jan. 2, ending a nearly eight-week strike.
Members of Local 1050 of the United Auto Workers union voted approximately 55 percent in favor of the new deal covering about 830 workers the Cleveland plant, which manufactures forged aluminum wheels for the heavy-duty truck and automotive markets as well as forged products for the aerospace and industrial markets.
Alcoa had been running the plant with salaried workers since the strike began Nov. 6.....
