Air quality near Phelps Dodge unit in Ariz. gets thumbs up from EPA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has given its stamp of approval to the air quality in the Miami, Ariz., area, which is home to a large Phelps Dodge Corp. mining and smelting operation.
The agency redesignated the area as attaining the federal standard for sulfur-dioxide emissions and has approved the state's plan to maintain healthy air-quality levels in the area for 10 years.....
