Copper scrap, anode duties axed by China

China is dropping import duties on copper scrap and anode, effective Jan. 1, as part of a series of tax changes aimed at encouraging certain imports of raw materials to feed rising domestic demand.

Imports of copper scrap, a key raw material for Chinese smelters along with concentrates, are expected to rise following removal of the 1.5-percent import duty, according to traders.....
