Alcoa plant unaffected by generator shutdown

The planned shutdown of Alcoa Inc.'s Sandow power plant Dec. 31 is not expected to affect production at the company's Rockdale, Texas, aluminum smelter.
An interim power deal with Texas utility TXU Corp. will provide adequate power to continue normal operations at the smelter, according to an Alcoa spokesman. If there were to be any impact on production, the company would report such a development, he said.....
