China cuts ferrochrome duty to 1%to stimulate imports; fallout seen

Beijing has announced it will halve the import tax on ferrochrome to 1 percent effective Jan. 1 as the government attempts to encourage imports of the alloying material.
While the lower duty is expected to promote growth in ferrochrome imports to meet rising raw material demand from the expanding stainless steel industry, the move also could result in lower chromium ore imports, which would reduce supplies to....
