Material Sciences' Quiet Steel makes itself heard in earnings

Laminated steel producer Material Sciences Corp. has returned to profitability, posting net income of $859,000 in its fiscal year ended Feb. 28 in contrast to a $13.9-million net loss the previous year on sales that rose 8.9 percent to $264.9 million.
For the fiscal fourth quarter, the Elk Grove Village, Ill., company trimmed its net loss to $712,000 from $12.5 million a year earlier on sales that inched up 1.7 percent to $64.4 million. The quarterly loss included a $4.1-million payment of long-term incentive awards....
