Schuff purchases Kansas assets of bankrupt Havens Steel for $4.5M

Steel fabricator Schuff International Inc. has purchased the Ottawa, Kan., plant of Havens Steel Co., Kansas City, Mo., for $4.5 million following approval of the deal by a federal bankruptcy judge.
Phoenix-based Schuff said it was the sole qualifying bidder for the operating assets of Havens, an 85-year-old company that filed for Chapter 11 creditor protection in March 2004. Schuff previously had been given a lease by the Kansas....
