Titanium blaze consumes weekend in Wichita

A load of titanium shavings caught fire in Wichita, Kan., Friday afternoon and was still burning Monday.
One person who fled the building on East Gilbert Street was treated for smoke inhalation.Forty firefighters responded when some 180,000 pounds of material caught fire Friday, sending balls of fire 50 feet into the air. Some fire trucks remained on hand Monday and smoke was still visible. Since water can worsen titanium combustion, however, the fire department's role was simply to prevent collateral damage.....
