No. 1 heavy melt exports surge to new high

Strong demand from Turkish steelmakers and their counterparts in Egypt and Indonesia spurred U.S. exports of No. 1 heavy melting steel scrap in June to their highest level in almost a decade.
U.S. shipments of the bellwether grade of cut ferrous scrap reached 287,685 tonnes in June, up 2.8 percent from 279,838 tonnes in May and the highest one-month total since August 1995, when close to 320,000 tonnes were sent overseas, according to figures from the U.S. Commerce Department.....
