NASA program helps yards avoid danger in propane tank recycling

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has tapped its allied expertise to solve a scrapyard's problem of safely disposing of propane tanks.
After the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued rules requiring new, safer valves for barbecue grill propane tanks, the space agency said owners could no longer refill older tanks and in some instances have resorted to leaving them near landfills or inside discarded appliances.
