China sweeps scrap metal exports in August

China's share of U.S. scrap metal exports reached nearly 56 percent by value in August, including a majority share of ferrous scrap-possibly a first.
The grand total for the month's exports of steel, copper and aluminum scrap was $505 million, with China (including Hong Kong) accounting for $281 million of that. China's highest figure previously had been slightly less than $250 million of scrap metal acquired in May.....
