US raw steel production tops 2 million tons

Raw steel output in the United States totaled 2,008,000 tons last week, a 0.7-percent increase from 1,995,000 tons produced the previous week, as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate of 86.9 percent.

In the corresponding week last year, mills produced 2,149,000 tons at an average capability utilization rate of 97.2 percent, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington.....
