Gallatin's Daily elected SMA chairman

The board of the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA), Washington, announced the election of Don Daily to a two-year term as its chairman beginning in 2006.
Daily, president of Gallatin Steel Co., Ghent, Ky., succeeds Keith Busse, president and chief executive officer of Steel Dynamics Inc., Fort Wayne, Ind., who will conclude his two-year term as chairman in February.
Gallatin Steel, a joint venture of Dofasco Inc., Hamilton, Ontario, and Gerdau Ameristeel Corp., Tampa, Fla., operates a compact strip production facility that started up in the second quarter of 1995. The company currently produces more than 1.4 million short tons of hot band annually using a twin-shell direct-current electric furnace, a ladle metallurgy station, a thin-slab continuous....
