Chinese buying boosts copper, brass exports

U.S. exports of copper and brass scrap increased 6 percent in August following a jump in activity by Chinese consumers.

Copper scrap exports totaled 65,395 short tons in August, up from 61,693 tons in July and 59,635 tons in June. The total for the month is slightly lower than August last year, when exports were 46,713 tons.

Shipments to China, the biggest buyer of U.S. scrap during the past two years, rose to 44,427 tons during August from 42,785 tons in July and 42,863 tons in June.....
