Environmental protection board in Maine adopts e-cycling code

Maine's Board of Environmental Protection has adopted a regulatory code for electronics recycling.

Some minor tinkering was done with the early October draft, but not enough to warrant a renewed comment period, the board decided.

Maine is the first state with a system based on "reimbursement from manufacturers for the costs of handling and recycling . . . televisions and computer monitors generated as waste by Maine households." The law authorizing the arrangement was passed last year.....
