Ameristeel talks inching forward at Texas wire rod plant, USW says

Talks between Gerdau Ameristeel Corp., Tampa, Fla., and workers locked out of the company's Beaumont, Texas, wire rod plant for the past five months have made some slight progress in recent weeks, a union official said.
The talks are reaching a "critical stage," a company spokesman said, adding that all options remain on the table in terms of reopening the plant without an agreement. "We're at a point where we have to reach an agreement or agree to disagree." He said the company currently is evaluating options on retiree health care and that further talks could be scheduled after the....
