Canada, Britain boost nickel buys in August

Ferroalloy producers and scrap merchants in Canada and Britain increased their purchases of U.S. nickel scrap in August, boosting overall exports of the alloying metal by 55.7 percent compared with the previous month.

Shipments rose to 2,796 short tons in August from 1,795 tons in July, according to the latest statistics from the Commerce Department, the highest one-month total for U.S. specialty scrap exporters in more than a year.....
