Solikamsk taps free market to cut energy costs

Russia's Solikamsk Magnesium Works has entered the energy free market in a bid to reduce its production costs.

The company previously bought all its energy supplies from regional energy distributor OAO Permenergo.

"The main advantage of this move will be a chance to leave Permenergo's monopoly and economize through increasing flexibility by varying several suppliers," a Solikamsk executive said. "This is a timely....
