Alsco buy prompts Aleris move to shut rolling mill, coating line

Aleris International Inc., Beachwood, Ohio, will permanently close and dismantle its Carson, Calif., rolling mill and coil coating facility, with production set to be phased out in the first quarter of 2006.
The decision followed a review of potentially redundant manufacturing facilities after the company completed the purchase of aluminum recycler and building products maker Alsco Holdings Inc., the parent of Alsco Metal Co., Raleigh, N.C.....
