US scrap metal exports dip below $500M mark

U.S. exports of major scrap metals wobbled below the $500-million mark in September, but aluminum shipments to China and steel to Turkey bucked the decline.

Buyers filling China's requirements spent a record $72 million on U.S. aluminum scrap. The corresponding physical quantity also moved higher.

Turkey spent $39 million on U.S. ferrous scrap exiting in September, according to the U.S. Commerce Department figures released Thursday.....
