Ipsco, union reach early five-year labor deals

All is quiet on the western front for Ipsco Inc.-and it apparently will remain that way for the next five-plus years.
Lisle, Ill.,-based Ipsco and United Steelworkers union locals at its plants in Regina, Saskatchewan, and Calgary, Alberta, have reached early settlements on tentative new labor agreements that will last until July 31, 2011. The current contracts for the units were due to expire July 31 next year.
No details of the contract agreements were available as they await ratification by about 1,000 hourly employees at the two locations. The contracts cover workers represented by USW Local 5890 at the Regina plant and Local 6673 at the Calgary operations.....
