Copper values increase in latest online auction of military scrap

The U.S. Defense Department's latest monthly electronic auction of metal scrap shows copper values rising since October, with four lots of fired cartridges going for more than $1.40 a pound in Florida, Illinois and Nevada.
Most of the fired brass cartridges went to a single bidder focused on Florida, who spent $151,000 buying material at between $1.19 and $1.46 a pound. The same buyer acquired similar lots in late October with winning bids ranging from $1.22 to $1.31 a pound (AMM, Oct. 20).....
