Ludlum lifts electrical steel charge

Allegheny Technologies Inc.'s Allegheny Ludlum Corp. subsidiary is raising its electrical steel surcharge by 7.9 percent to $340 a ton ($17 per hundredweight), effective with Dec. 1 shipments, from $315 ($15.75 cwt) currently.

The increase follows a similar move by AK Steel Corp., Middletown, Ohio, which boosted its electrical steel surcharge for December by 50 percent to $330 a ton from $220 (AMM, Nov. 18).....
