Alpart strike averted after shutdown begins

A strike at Alumina Partners of Jamaica's plant in Nain, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, was averted Monday, when workers returned to work just one day after the operations started to shut down.
"Plant staff started shutting down operations on Sunday, but the strike has been averted and on Monday everyone was going back to work," said an executive at Norsk Hydro ASA, Oslo, Norway, which owns 35 percent of Alpart. "Loading from the plant has not....
